Our goal is to introduce a cohort of diverse writers to future generations – contemporary authors who are non-binary, queer, trans, and disabled. To address inequalities and improve communities through reading and reflecting on the works of Black women.

The Well-Read Black Girl community needs your help! Volunteer commitments can range anywhere from a few hours on Festival weekend to a year-round commitment. If you’re based in NYC and are looking for volunteer hours for work or school, we are happy to help.
Author Escort/Book Signing Assistance
Helping maintain traffic flow in the book signing area after the presentation
Preparing and manage author signing areas
Assisting with merchandise and sales if asked
Delivering author information to different venues
Answering festival-related questions
